Pain free waxing – well almost

Pain-free waxing? Does such a marvel really exist? Well, I didn’t believe it, until I visited the award-winning Gina Conway Salon in London to try out their new, almost pain-free lavender waxing.

I’ll admit I was a bit scared as I’ve always used hair removal creams on my bikini line, as I’ve never been able to face the pain of waxing before.

Thankfully I was put at ease by the friendly staff and they took me to a private room with relaxing music. All the better to take my mind off the oncoming pain onslaught…

The beautician applied a thin layer of pre-waxing oil and then a layer of the organic lavender wax. It isn’t really sticky or messy and it hardens on the skin, moulding itself around the hair.

Then it came to the crunch – or the wrench. I braced myself for eye-watering pain but was pleasantly surprised when I realised she had ripped it off and I had felt no pain. I even looked down to check that I was indeed a fuzz-free zone.

The hair is pulled out directly from the root and so there is no re-growth for about three to four weeks.

I recommend this waxing treatment to everyone. It’s done so discreetly there’s no embarrassment, and it’s almost pain free. There’s no stickiness or after-sting that you can get from traditional waxing.
