TOWIE style advice: 'Be more daring in 2012'
Lydia Bright talks fashion, boobs and Beckham
She’s the new Queen of Essex, a vintage boutique owner and an all-round fashionista and now Lydia Bright has become involved with Wonderbra’s Take the Plunge campaign. And with 2012 about to roll in, we’re all set for a new 'us and she’s here to give us some style tips to get us out of that fashion rut.
Hi Lydia! We saw the pics of you and Beckham, well jel!
Oh I know, tell me about it! He was absolutely lovely as well. Me and James were so nervous about asking him for a picture but he was just like, yeah, course!
How do you prepare for a big event like that?
A dress is always the most important thing, so I always try and find a nice knock-out dress. And then I get all my accessories like my shoes, my bag, all my underwear - after I’ve done this big campaign with Wonderbra, it’s really educated me about the importance of good underwear because I think that girls just kind of take it for granted and wear the same old bra with every outfit. I also let my hair down from the rollers at the last minute to keep it curly for as long as possible.
Oh yeah, about the new Ultimate Plunge bra from Wonderbra, why is it so good?
I was a very late developer. I didn’t have any boobs until I maybe hit about 16 and I’m still growing even to this day. It was only three weeks ago when I went up a cup size. The plunge bra was amazing for me because I don’t really have a very full cup and I think when I’m wearing certain dresses it does look a lot nicer if I’ve kind of got that extra push.
Have you ever had a fashion flop before a big event?
Well my biggest fashion flop that I was really upset about was when I had my shop opening for Bella Sorella. I wore like a crushed velvet velour dress but because it was vintage, obviously the material was very delicate and as I was saying hello to all my guests, my zip split from the top all the way to the bottom! Luckily I was in my own shop so I just got to pull something off the hanger.
What look are you going for on New Year’s Eve?
The party season is the one time of the year when you can get away with anything, so I always pile on the sequins. Also I can’t live without my fake eyelashes. They are just the ultimate make-up accessory for the party season to give you some extra va-va-voom.
And what trends are you excited for in 2012?
I like mixing up my style and I love wearing leather and trying all sorts of styles but I would say my favourite things are pleats and floral and I know that next year pastel colours are really coming in. And I love that whole feminine sort of look like pleated pastel skirts and yeah I love all them colours like duck sorts of blues, the pastel greens, the lemons.
What tips do you have for people starting the New Year with a new style?
Don’t be afraid to experiment with fashion and try different things, as it is the best way to update your look. I think fashion is a great way to express your personality so just go for it. My top tip is to be confident in who you are. Experimenting doesn’t mean wearing something you don’t want to but being daring enough to try something that you never had the confidence to before.
Thanks Lydia!
